Review Of Whole House Fm Transmitter

I leave in a sunny country in Europe and my house has a big backyard where I, my wife and two kids spend a lot of time outside almost any season of the year. We are also music lovers and we have tons of CDs and MP3s stored on my computer. I was looking for a solution to somehow broadcast music to the backyard of my house from my music library. We all know the difficulties to stream audio and music from an electronic source (PC with MP3s for example) to an analog receiver (FM Radio for example). This is not a problem at all if you look at the Whole House FM Transmitter which can receive audio from almost any audio source and transmit it to any FM receiver.

At the beginning I was a little skeptical about getting an FM Transmitter for broadcasting music in my house and backyard. The reason was that most FM Transmitters are relatively weak in terms of coverage and they are mainly for use in your car. After testing the Whole House FM Transmitter 2.0 I was relieved to find out that their claims of 150 feet (50 meters) radius coverage are actually true.

Some Specifications

Before continuing with my review for the Whole House FM Transmitter 2.0, let us see some of the specs of this device below:

Use it anywhere you want (Home, Back Yard, Car, Office, Garage, Boat, exercise room, pool side etc).
Covers the entire FM Band Range from 88.1 to 107.9 MHz in steps of 0.1 MHz. This means that you can easily find any unoccupied frequency to transmit your signal.

Transmits to any FM Receiver.
Covers 150 feet distance but still satisfies the FCC part 15 regulations.
Compact Size and light weight (a little bit larger than the size of a deck of playing cards).
The new Whole House FM Transmitter version 2.0 is built from the ground up with better features, versatility and reliability.
Four ways to power the device (AC Outlet, 3 AA Batteries, Computer USB Port and 12V Car Adapter).

In the box you will find the following items:

Whole House FM Transmitter 2.0
110/220V AC Wall Outlet Adapter
12V DC Car Adapter
1/83 (3.5mm) Stereo Audio Cable
RCA Jack Stereo Audio Adapter
Stereo Audio “Y” Cable
Computer USB Power Adapter

Testing done on Coverage

My first test on how long the unit can transmit was pretty simple. I just connected a CD player with the FM transmitter using the 1/8 stereo audio cable and selected an unused FM frequency in my area. Power for the transmitter was from the AC outlet. Now, because I live in Europe, we use the even numbered frequencies so I selected 104.6 MHz on my FM radio receiver. After setting up the same frequency on the FM Transmitter, I was able to receive the audio strong and clear on my radio from the living room of my house to the far side of my backyard (around 120 feet away).

My second testing was a little more demanding, but I will reveal this test on my website.

Conclusion

The reviewed Whole House FM Transmitter really stands up to its name as a “Whole House” coverage system. If you are in the same situation as me, that is you like to listen to streaming music from a CD player or from your laptop without being bound by distance from the music source, then the Whole House FM system is a great device to broadcast your music on any FM receiver within your home vicinity. Its price tag has also dropped considerably, so why don’t you take a look at the official website of the product to see if it fits your needs. And don’t forget the free shipping within USA and the 30-Day money back guarantee.

How To Improve Your Sight-reading (organ, Piano And Keyboard)

As an organist, I have been working in club land in the North of England for the past 30 years or so and one of the crucial qualifications in this environment is the ability to sight read music on demand.
When I say music this can be anything from a beer matt to a ripped piece of paper repaired with selotape and stained with beer.

To be fair most of the music is written by professionals and is nice to read but not always easy.
As a club organist, you do not get a band call. In fact, you are lucky to get five minutes to scan through between 10 and 15 pieces of music. Some written in different keys, and every organist will tell you they hate it when they get the dreaded 6 sharps or 6 flats or even 7 sharp keys in a piece of music that just happens to contain a solo especially written for you.

So how do you improve your sight-reading? Well I asked my music teacher this very question as I embarked on my club land career. His answer was to practice sight-reading. He went on to tell me that session musicians practice by picking up any music book start playing on page one and continue until they have finished the book.

Does it work? Yes it does. Try it for yourself, pick up any piece of music you can find, preferably one that you are not that familiar with, then start to play, but do not stop. If you make a mistake it does not matter, you are not practising how to play this piece of music you are practising sight-reading this piece of music.

If you really want to test yourself. Get yourself an audience. I practice my sight-reading every week in front of a 200 plus audience. Its surprising how your concentration improves.

Learning Music Make Babies Smart

A study re-discover the benefits of music for infant brain development. Study from McMaster University scientists indicate, to train children to play music from an early age can provide benefits, even before they can walk or talk.

Researchers found that infants aged one year who participate in interactive music class with their parents tend to smile more, communicate better and showed more brain responses to musical excellence.

“Previously, a lot of research on music training focuses only on children who were older,” said Laurel Trainor, as director of the McMaster Institute for Music and the Mind.

“Our results indicate that the baby’s brain may be very plastic (elastic) associated with exposure to music,” said Trainor who published his findings in the scientific journal Developmental Science and Annals of the New York Academy of Sciences ..

In his research, in collaboration with David Gerry Trainor, a music teacher and graduate student, who received an award from the Grammy Foundation in 2008 to study the effects of musical training on the baby. In the latest study, involving selompok Gerry Trainor and baby and parents to participate and spend time during the six months following the music class every week. Music class is divided into two types.

In the first interactive classroom, parents and babies involved in all things about music such as singing and playing musical instruments. Parents and babies are also working together to learn to play percussion instruments, taking turns and singing certain songs.

In other music classes, baby and parents play different types of toys or dolls while listening to music as background accompaniment. Before class begins, all the babies have shown communication and social development of the same.

“Babies who are participating in an interactive music classes along with their parents have the sensitivity to recognize the structure of the tone,” Trainor said.

“The babies are just passive listening to music does not show the same preference. In fact, their brains respond to music differently. Infants of interactive music classes showed greater brain response to the strains of the musical tones,” he said.

Babies of interactive music classes can also stimulate better communication skills at the beginning, as pointed objects that are out of range, or waving. Socially, these babies also smiled more, more easily to be appeased, and a little disturbed when there are things that are considered foreign to them.

“There are many ways for parents to connect with their babies,” said study coordinator, Andrea Unrau.

“The greatest thing about music is that everyone loved it and everyone can learn to play simple interactive music together,” he concluded. Thanks for reading my article on the subject of babies.
